Slightly older models, such as the S9 should be compatible but you need to update your phone’s firmware. At the moment, the S8 series, and older models, are not supported.

Apps will open as windows, making them bigger and easier to use on the tablet’s large screen. You can move the window around the screen and have multiple windows open at the same time.
Maybe you’re having some trouble reading the text in DeX mode. Just use the Samsung DeX settings to change any settings related to DeX mode.
To start using DeX, swipe down from the top of the screen to open the Quick settings panel. Then, tap the DeX or Samsung DeX icon. The DeX interface will load on the tablet the same way it appears on desktops and monitors. You can navigate it using the tablet's touch screen or your S Pen.
The downside to wireless Samsung Dex is it’s still prone to issues, and while you’re supposed to be able to use your laptop’s mouse and keyboard, a lot of people have a hard time getting them to work. There are also input delays, graphical issues, and other problems, that are known to occur over Wifi networks.
