What a compelling video. My heart truly goes out to this fellow. One wonders what in his past led him down the path where he wound up. I say not at all in judgment but in curiosity. This young man is very courageous to speak out and share his story. I just hope that he gets good health care and gets past this. It was comforting to hear him say that he has the support of family and friends. Blessings his way!
I still insist that “It’s Hot to Frot!” and “Play by J/O Club Rules!” and “Intimacy Doesn’t Always Have to Mean Fucking” are incredibly important (but woefully underused) mantras that gay guys — especially young, naïve, unattached ones — need to hear FIRST AND FOREMOST. (If, God forbid, there is ever an “AIDS 2” involving a completely different but equally deadly STD, one thing will never change: the mucous membranes of the rectum will always tend to provide an easier route of entry for a pathogen than skin does. Mutual masturbation/frotwill always be the cheapest, least-risk form of “safer sex between guys”, and this must be said over and over and over in “safer sex” education, and not treated as an “oh, by the way” afterthought.)
They need to continue using condoms for that potential three month window period, and test a second time. If that “new love” relationship can’t handle three months of condoms, was it really a relationship, or was it just serial monogamy?
Isn’t it just common sense that IF one of the partners breaks the couple’s negotiated safety agreement, the whole process of condoms, testing and negotiated safety needs to be repeated? I think it is.
I would add that, more generally, white-owned porn studios that pay white men to do high-risk sex like anal barebacking are engaged in “the sexualization of homophobia.”
The states of Nevada and California do not require porn actors to be tested for HIV, said Weinstein, who has pushed for testing laws in both states and helped pass the condom law in Los Angeles County. Testing is required under industry rules.
The online database, launched Aug. 2, lists pornography performers who are free of sexually transmitted diseases and available for work. It replaced an earlier version operated by AIM Medical Associates that was shut down in May after the site was hacked and performers' private medical information was leaked online. Yes, you can live with HIV. Yes, AIDS is not a death sentence in 2014. Yes, negotiating risk is key. Above all, getting tested and being knowledge is crucial. But raw sex, especially if you do not know your serostatus or your partner’s, is not without serious risks, and youth and beauty are no protection. And even if you are HIV-negative, if you have raw sex you can still catch a range of other STIs/STDs.
@Tackle: But people don’t respond to the tough love message. They call it “Condom Nazis” and dismiss it. Should it be OK for them to get a chronic disease that will significantly impact their quality of life because of ignorance and denial?
