It's estimated that about 20% of eharmony applicants are rejected. In 2007, eharmony stated since the site's launch, they had rejected about a million people who applied to use the service. They reported that about 30% of those applicants were denied because they were already married, 27% were younger than the minimum application age of 21, and 9% provided inconsistent answers on the application. eharmony also stated they reject anyone under the age of 60 who has been married more than four times or fails their "dysthymia scale."
The main thing all eharmony users have in common is they’re all looking for a serious relationship. They may come from different backgrounds, but now they’re ready to settle down, and they trust eharmony’s psychology-driven algorithm to help them find the right person.
In terms of sheer size, Tinder takes the cake. Handily. It’s five times bigger than eharmony. That gives singles a lot of options — potentially too many options — but it’s better to be surrounded by singles than hunting around for someone online. While eharmony’s relationship-minded audience can suit some people’s needs, Tinder’s user base is so fantastically diverse and widespread that it’s really great for anyone, anywhere, and anytime.
All the tools listed below can be accessed from the top toolbar on the page and/or when viewing the members profile (using either the eHarmony website or mobile apps). Besides screen size, there are only slight differences when using eHarmony on different devices.
After you complete the Compatibility Quiz, you can view the analysis under Personality Profile. The Personality Profile is the basis for your matches and gives you insight into your own preferences, behavior and lifestyle. Premium members can see a more detailed analysis of their personality than free members.
During 2009-12, new memberships, retention rates and time spent on the site decreased. In July 2012, Neil Clark Warren came out of retirement to become chief executive officer. Warren closed unprofitable international operations, switched advertisers, made changes to the board, and bought back stock from Sequoia Capital and Technology Crossover Ventures. In 2017, it was reported that eharmony had about 750,000 paid subscribers and 10 million active users, which was about the same as it had been in 2012. Warren left the company again in July 2016.
The in-depth profiles also contain good user-generated information about the person’s passions, hobbies, role models, and relationship goals. Compatibility is the name of the game for eharmony, so it highlights the things you have in common. Only members judged compatible with you will show up in the Matches section, and you can filter these results by age or location.
While eharmony offers guidance, Tinder offers freedom. Tinder doesn’t match up its users through a complex algorithm — instead, every match is the result of the user making a decision and taking action in the dating scene.
Both Match and eHarmony are reputable online dating platforms that have connected many happy couples. While eHarmony is more expensive, it offers a deeper analysis and look at future relationships. Match is more affordable, has an easy to use interface, and seems to be more laid back.
In 2016, eHarmony announced their questionnaire would now be optional for users. By 2017, the questionnaire consisted of 150 questions, down from 450 questions.
Once your profile is active, the matching process is safely in the hands of eHarmony’s patented Compatibility Matching System, which provides daily matches based on the potential for deep connection and long-term compatibility. Every match is assigned a score that indicates the likelihood that you will be compatible. For more information, you can view their Personality Profile and see how your results compare.
