Twitter quickly became a similar porn site to Tumblr, and a popular safe haven for artists and adult content creators impacted by the Tumblr ban. The site sports laid-back policies on adult content, letting artists, porn creators, and cam girls all build a following on the site. While Twitter usually tags NSFW material, and you may need to manually allow "sensitive content" to be displayed on mobile, it's one of the last major social media networks that still freely allow pornographic content on its servers. But as far as sites like Tumblr go, Twitter is relatively similar.
Blogger, like WordPress, offers a simple hosting service for publishers of adult content. It offers some elements of community driven feedback and sharing that Tumblr allows but is not geared for social networking. The main drawback to this service over others on this list is the fact that is owned by Google. Whilst the company currently allows adult content on its service, there is a fear that investing in the platform to create your blog site now will be pointless as Google will surely follow suit at some point soon in how it restricts adult material over its services.
We have stumbled upon two more platforms – Explicitr and Suffra – that are also pitching themselves as Tumblr alternatives. More info on them here.
They have a nifty PR campaign, but at the end of the day, they’re fine with porn. And they’re not that concerned about what kids see on their site. And, yes, some of this stuff still matters.
Since Tumblr took the decision to ban NSFW content on its website at the end of 2018, there has been a gap in the world of micro-blogging sites for the niche and free content that it offered. Though some Tumblr users have yet to see access to their pages revoked over their images and clips, we wanted to know what alternatives there were to this useful multimedia sharing platform.
This a list of various porn sites I like (some of them paid, some free), please feel free to vote on them too.
Why is this important? Well, maybe it isn’t. I mean, this is the Internet after all, it’s not all kittens and rainbows out there. It’s not a new problem either. (Hi,Flickr).
Not the best choice for anyone who used Tumblr for photos, blogging or sharing live action porn videos but certainly an option for those who enjoy Hentai and other cartoon, anime etc. adult content.
That’s why it’s interesting how the three social services far on other NSFW topics. You know, the dirty ones. There’s no #porn or #sex on Instagram, at least not that which you can query up by tag, that is. Depending on when you query it, the #porno tag is either pretty lame or shows full-on nudity. #Pornstar is about the same. But then someone told me about #pornstagram, and yep, there you go. Plus, all those pictures are tagged with other words that can lead you down the Instagram rabbit hole of shame. (To get to the raunchier stuff, you have dig into the tags and accounts of the users posting the images).
An uproar of sorts has broken out on social media over the use of the term “female-presenting nipples” in Tumblr’s official ‘adult content ban’ announcement. We bring you a potential reason behind the use of this term. Details here.
Q. This has GOTTA be a joke and there’s got to be a catch; like a flood of Russian porn or porn bots enough to choke a horse or sudden random fees. So, let’s get some transparency. Although I’ve lost a whole lot of my life with tumblr’s asinine decision, I’m not prepared to start again so it can happen again. Prove me wrong!!
Sharesome is a new player in the field of adult social networks. Here’s what the company describes itself:
A great social media site with an extremely active community, Deviant Art has been knocking around since 2000. It’s a popular site for content creators and has always had very liberal policies when it comes to the kind of material being shared. However, it is an art site that takes copyright very seriously.
You do need to be a verified user to access content but you can link your Twitter account to do this. Though free to use it is monetized by way of its live cam service as well as money-making opportunities for members.
Users can request an access key by donating $5 to Pillowfort, or can use an invitation key from a current user. While the site has closed registration in December in order to “improve performance and add necessary features,” registration is open as of June. If you do make it past Pillowfort's protected beta borders, you'll find a ton of NSFW spaces, including:
Tumblr seemingly took a more proactive stance in its bans, announcing it would apply the policy on a blog-by-blog basis. And yet today, thinspo searches on Tumblr bring back hundreds of posts of jetting collarbones, ribs poking out, thighs that don’t touch, and more. Sadly, these are mostly fashion industry photos, so what can you do?
Update 11:14am CT, July. 8, 2020: This article has been edited to reflect that several Mastodon instances are currently offline, and that Pillowfort is accepting new users via donations.
