Project Better Place has launched a grand plan to reinvent the world's automobile industry around battery-powered all-electric cars. It aims to deploy an infrastructure of battery-charging stations in the United States, Europe and the developing world, selling electric fuel on a subscription basis, while subsidizing vehicle costs through leasing and credits. In their own words: "Similar to the model of wireless operators and their deployment of cell towers, Project Better Place will establish a network of charging spots and battery exchange stations to provide ubiquitous access to electricity to power electric vehicles.
