If you haven’t signed up for the paid version of eHarmony, look over other user’s profiles, perhaps based on convenience of location or for users who have sent you ‘smiles’, ‘messages’, and/or site generated questions to answer. If you enjoy reading a particular user’s profile, consider if you want to commit to the site enough to sign up. Though profile photos remain ‘blurred’ until membership is paid for, you can still gather a certain amount by the outline in a photograph. Go through three (3) of the site generated icebreaker questions (3) and you can begin to message one another.

Late in 2018 eHarmony was acquired by the German broadcaster ProSiebenSat.1 who also owns Parship Elite Group (which eHarmony will operate under). In November of 2019 a big update to the eHarmony service happened which included a number of new features like support for same sex partners, changes to the matching algorithm, and a new user interface. With this update also came the closure of Compatible Partners (member accounts were moved to eHarmony).
After you complete the survey, you can move on to finding your matches, but not before eharmony asks you to sign up for a monthly plan. You can easily opt out and browse for free, but you don't get much if you don't pay. The free version is really more of a demo than something usable in its own right.
Due to the lower amount of traffic, finding a local match can be more difficult. On eHarmony you won’t have endless swiping or any swiping. Matches will be given on the daily or through your search and it might become clear that less matches means focus on quality over quantity/visual attraction.
Note that there are very few search filters (just age, location, and other basics) on eharmony because the goal is to deliver the best matches to you — rather than require singles to do the searching themselves.

Whilst Match seems to have eHarmony beat with a longer list, you do get the sense of racking up many extra costs here. This quickly makes Match pricier if you add message receipts, private viewing, and other add-ons.
Drawback? People often lie about their age and misrepresent themselves online. It’s not uncommon for people in their thirties, forties, and beyond to change their age by a year or two (or ten). Sometimes this is even done by mistake, as they never listed their correct age on social media sites like Facebook, which they have paired as their log-in information for the website or app.
The free to download app is a completely mobile version of the website and the developers have done a good job of bringing all essential features of the dating website, such as browsing match/favorite lists and chatting (premium members only) to their app as well. There are hardly any differences between the simplistic site and its equally minimal app to speak of, and just in case you are wondering, the premium upgrade costs the same as it does on the website. Also, you don’t need to pay separately for the site and the app, as long as it’s the same account of course.

Plus, it offers a more user-friendly interface and an excellent filtering tool. Tinder, our other Editors’ Choice, remains the best option for young mobile users looking for love right now. Still, eharmony is a worthy alternative if you're seeking a meaningful, long-term connection.
If you can mix in a few witty comments or funny observations during a conversation that will be enough. If you can keep her crying with laughter that is even better.
